Prunus salicina ‘Wickson’
$40.00
The Wickson Plum is a Japanese-type plum variety known for its exceptionally sweet and richly flavoured fruit. Developed by famed horticulturist Luther Burbank, it produces medium to large, round plums with a deep red to purple skin and firm, golden-yellow flesh. The fruit is juicy, tangy-sweet, and ideal for fresh eating, preserves, or desserts.
Wickson is a vigorous and productive tree, growing to around 4–5 metres tall, though it can be kept smaller with pruning. In spring, it features an attractive display of white blossoms, making it both ornamental and fruitful. It typically ripens in late summer to early autumn.
The tree thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and benefits from regular watering during dry periods. While partially self-fertile, planting it near another Japanese plum like ‘Santa Rosa’ or ‘Mariposa’ enhances fruit set.
Ideal for: home orchards, edible gardens, and those seeking a reliable, flavourful plum variety.
