The Cycad Palm, commonly known as Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta), is a slow-growing, evergreen plant with a prehistoric appearance, often mistaken for a true palm. Native to southern Japan, it belongs to the cycad family and is valued for its symmetrical, feathery foliage and striking architectural form.

The plant produces a thick, rough, cylindrical trunk topped with a crown of stiff, glossy, dark green leaves that radiate outward like a fountain. Each leaf is pinnate, with numerous narrow, leathery leaflets giving the plant a bold, tropical aesthetic. Although slow-growing, mature cycads develop a dramatic presence in gardens and landscapes.

Cycad Palm thrives in bright, indirect light to full sun and prefers well-draining soil, as it is highly tolerant of drought but susceptible to root rot if overwatered. It is hardy in tropical and subtropical climates and can also be grown in containers in cooler regions, with protection from frost.

This plant is often used as a feature in gardens, patios, or landscape designs due to its sculptural shape, long-lasting foliage, and low maintenance needs. Its ancient, exotic look makes it a favorite for adding a sense of elegance and timelessness to both indoor and outdoor spaces.
