Camellia sasanqua ‘ Starry Eyes ‘

Camellia japonica ‘Starry Eyes’ is a charming evergreen shrub admired for its delicate, eye-catching blooms. The flowers are usually semi-double to anemone form, featuring soft pink petals attractively streaked or edged with deeper pink, surrounding a bright cluster of golden-yellow stamens in the centre. Flowering from late winter to early spring, it creates a lovely, luminous display during the cooler months.

The foliage is glossy, dark green, and dense, providing year-round structure and a rich contrast to the patterned blooms. ‘Starry Eyes’ has an upright, bushy growth habit and typically grows around 2–3 metres tall, making it suitable as a feature plant, hedge, or large container specimen.

This camellia thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic soil and prefers a partly shaded position protected from harsh afternoon sun and strong winds. Regular watering during dry periods and mulching around the base will support healthy growth and encourage abundant flowering.
