Magnolia × alba, commonly known as White Champaca or Michelia alba, is a graceful evergreen tree treasured for its intensely sweet and captivating fragrance. Believed to be a hybrid between Magnolia champaca and Magnolia montana, this tropical magnolia is widely planted in warm climates for both its beauty and scent. The flowers are slender, creamy white, and waxy in texture, with narrow petals that open elegantly. While each bloom is relatively simple in appearance, the perfume it releases—especially in the early morning and evening—is rich, deep, and long-lasting.

The tree has glossy, dark green leaves and a naturally upright, neat growth habit, forming a dense canopy over time. In ideal tropical conditions, it can grow between 6 to 12 meters tall, though it responds well to pruning and can be maintained at a smaller size for residential gardens. Because of its evergreen foliage, it provides year-round greenery in addition to its fragrant flowers.

Magnolia × alba thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers fertile, well-drained soil that retains some moisture. It performs best in warm, humid climates and does not tolerate frost. Regular watering during its establishment period helps promote healthy growth and abundant flowering.
