Azadirachta indica, commonly known as neem, is a fast-growing, hardy evergreen tree native to the Indian subcontinent. It is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions for its medicinal, agricultural, and environmental benefits. Neem typically grows 15–20 meters tall, with a broad, spreading canopy and pinnate leaves that give it a lush, feathery appearance.

The tree produces small, fragrant white flowers in clusters, followed by smooth, olive-shaped fruits containing seeds rich in oil. Almost all parts of the neem tree—including leaves, bark, seeds, and oil—are valued for their medicinal properties and are used in traditional remedies, natural pesticides, and personal care products.

Neem is drought-tolerant and thrives in a wide range of soils, preferring full sun. It is also used in reforestation and soil conservation because of its hardy nature and ability to improve soil fertility. Its natural insecticidal and antifungal properties make it an eco-friendly choice for pest management in agriculture.

Beyond its practical uses, neem is often planted as a shade or ornamental tree in gardens, parks, and streets due to its dense foliage and resilience in harsh climates.
