Viburnum opulus
Snowball
$30.00
Viburnum opulus ‘Roseum’, commonly known as Snowball Viburnum, is a deciduous ornamental shrub grown mainly for its spectacular globe-shaped flower clusters. Unlike the wild form of Viburnum opulus, this cultivar produces large, rounded blooms made entirely of sterile florets, giving each flower head a full, fluffy “snowball” appearance.
The flowers emerge light green in late spring, gradually turning pure white as they mature. These blooms can be quite large and cover the plant generously, creating a striking display in the garden. Since the flowers are sterile, this variety typically does not produce berries.
The foliage is bright green and maple-like in shape, turning attractive shades of red or burgundy in autumn before falling.
Snowball Viburnum thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. It is hardy and easy to maintain, responding well to light pruning after flowering to keep its shape neat and encourage healthy growth.
