Tulsi is a sacred, aromatic herb widely grown for its medicinal, spiritual, and culinary value. It is a fast-growing, bushy perennial or annual (depending on climate) with small green or purple-tinged leaves and a strong, pleasant fragrance.

The plant usually grows 30–90 cm tall, forming a compact, branched habit. Tulsi produces tiny purple or white flowers on upright spikes, which attract bees and other beneficial insects.
