Michelia Champaca
Himalayan Magnolia

$38.00

Michelia champaca (now botanically known as Magnolia champaca) is a highly fragrant evergreen tree admired for its intensely scented golden-orange flowers. Native to South and Southeast Asia, it is commonly known as Champak or Champaca and is deeply valued in tropical gardens and cultural traditions.

This tree produces slender, pointed petals in shades of deep yellow to orange. The flowers are especially fragrant in the evening and early morning, releasing a rich, sweet perfume that is widely used in perfumes and essential oils. In countries like Sri Lanka and India, the blossoms are also used for religious offerings and traditional ceremonies.

Michelia champaca grows into a tall, graceful tree, often reaching 15–25 meters in height in ideal tropical conditions. It has glossy, deep green leaves that create a dense, elegant canopy. Because of its upright and somewhat narrow form, it can also be planted along boundaries or used as a shade tree.

It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers fertile, well-drained soil with regular moisture. Being a tropical species, it performs best in warm, humid climates and does not tolerate frost.

With its glossy foliage, towering form, and powerfully fragrant blooms, Michelia champaca is a beautiful and meaningful addition to tropical landscapes.
