Leucadendron salignum ‘Cheeky’

Leucadendron salignum ‘Cheeky’ is a compact, evergreen Australian-friendly shrub admired for its vibrant foliage and colourful floral bracts. It forms a dense, rounded habit with slender stems and narrow, glossy green leaves that provide year-round interest. From late winter through spring, the tips of the branches transform into brilliant shades of lime green, pink, crimson, and burgundy, surrounding the small flower heads and creating a spectacular display that lasts for many weeks.

Growing to approximately 1–1.5 m tall and wide, ‘Cheeky’ is ideal for mixed garden beds, borders, low hedges, containers, and water-wise landscapes. It thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Once established, it is highly drought tolerant, requires only occasional watering, and performs well in coastal gardens thanks to its tolerance of wind and light salt spray. Avoid heavy, poorly drained soils and excessive phosphorus fertilisers, as these can affect plant health.
