Dampiera diversifolia is a hardy, low-growing Australian native plant admired for its vivid blue flowers and soft green foliage. It forms a spreading groundcover that typically grows around 20–40 cm tall and can spread up to 1 metre wide, creating a dense and attractive carpet of foliage.
The plant produces striking fan-shaped flowers in rich shades of deep blue to violet, often with a soft yellow centre. Flowering occurs mainly from spring through summer, with blooms appearing above the foliage and attracting bees and other pollinators. The leaves are slightly toothed and may vary in shape, which is reflected in its name “diversifolia,” meaning diverse leaves.
Dampiera diversifolia thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soil. It tolerates dry conditions once established and performs well in sandy or coastal gardens. This plant is ideal for rockeries, borders, native gardens, and mass planting as a colourful groundcover. Low-maintenance and resilient, it requires only light pruning after flowering to maintain a neat and compact shape.
