Acer palmatum ‘Senkaki’, commonly known as the Coral Bark Maple, is a beautiful deciduous tree admired for its striking red coral-coloured bark and vibrant seasonal foliage. In spring, the new leaves emerge a fresh lime-green with soft red edges, creating a lovely contrast against the bright coral stems. Through summer, the foliage deepens to medium green, then turns golden-yellow to orange-red in autumn before falling to reveal the colourful bark that glows in winter.

This elegant maple has an upright, vase-shaped habit, typically growing to around 4–6 metres tall and 3–4 metres wide, making it ideal as a feature tree in gardens or courtyards. It thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil.

‘Senkaki’ offers year-round interest — beautiful foliage in spring and autumn, and vivid red stems in winter — making it a standout choice for adding colour and texture to any landscape.
