The Chinese Cedar (Toona sinensis), also known as Chinese Mahogany or Toon Tree, is a fast-growing deciduous tree valued for both its ornamental beauty and edible young leaves. Native to Asia, it can grow 10–25 meters tall, with an upright form and a broad, spreading crown. Its pinnate foliage emerges bronze-red in spring before turning green in summer and yellow in autumn, adding vibrant seasonal interest to gardens.

In addition to its striking appearance, the tender young leaves of the Chinese Cedar are widely used in Asian cuisine for their unique onion-like flavour. The tree also produces clusters of small white flowers in summer, followed by winged seeds. Hardy and adaptable, it thrives in a range of soils and climates, making it a popular choice for both ornamental planting and practical use.
