Prunus salicina ‘Satsuma’ Dwarf
Bare Rooted
$45.00
The Dwarf Satsuma Plum is a compact, deciduous fruit tree prized for its heavy crops of sweet, juicy fruit and suitability for small gardens or pots. This dwarf variety grows to about 2 to 2.5 metres tall, making it perfect for limited spaces or backyard orchards.
In early spring, it showcases a stunning display of white blossoms, followed by large, round, dark red to purple plums with richly flavoured, yellow to amber flesh that ripen in mid to late summer. The fruit is excellent for fresh eating, jams, or desserts.
This tree prefers full sun, well-drained soil, and moderate watering, and it benefits from winter pruning to encourage good fruit set. While some crops may occur without a pollinator, it produces best when planted near another Japanese plum variety, such as ‘Santa Rosa’ or ‘Mariposa’.
Ideal for: compact edible gardens, containers, and urban orchards in temperate climates.
