Morus nigra ‘Hicks Fancy’

Hicks Fancy Mulberry is a hardy, fast-growing deciduous tree known for its sweet, juicy black fruit and attractive foliage. It produces an abundant crop of elongated, dark purple-black mulberries that ripen from late spring to summer, with a rich, sweet flavour ideal for eating fresh, making jams, or baking. The tree has large, glossy green leaves that provide dense summer shade and turn golden before dropping in autumn.

This variety typically grows to around 6–8 metres tall and 5–6 metres wide, with a broad, rounded canopy. It performs best in full sun and well-drained soil, and is tolerant of drought and light frost once established. Hicks Fancy Mulberry is a productive, ornamental, and long-lived tree that makes an excellent addition to home orchards, large gardens, or rural properties.
