Magnolia × soulangeana, commonly known as Saucer Magnolia, is a deciduous hybrid renowned for its large, showy, cup- or saucer-shaped flowers and early spring display. The blooms, appearing before the leaves, are typically 10–20 cm wide and range in colour from soft white to shades of pink and purple, creating a dramatic and elegant floral display.

The foliage consists of large, ovate, dark green leaves that emerge after flowering, forming a lush canopy during the growing season. Saucer magnolia has a rounded to spreading growth habit, reaching 6–10 metres in height and 5–8 metres in width, making it ideal as a specimen tree in gardens, parks, and larger landscapes.

It prefers well-drained, fertile soil and thrives in full sun to partial shade. The tree benefits from protection from harsh winds, which can damage the large, delicate flowers. Minimal pruning is needed, primarily to maintain shape or remove dead or damaged branches.
