Lavandula dentata, commonly known as French Lavender, is a fragrant evergreen shrub celebrated for its ornate, toothed leaves and long-lasting flower spikes. Native to the Mediterranean, it is valued for both its ornamental beauty and aromatic foliage.

French Lavender forms a compact, bushy mound of grey-green, deeply toothed leaves that release a strong, sweet fragrance when touched. From spring through summer, it produces tall spikes of tubular flowers topped with decorative “rabbit ear” bracts, typically in shades of purple, lilac, or occasionally white. These blooms attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, adding life and movement to the garden.

This variety thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating dry and coastal conditions once established. Light pruning after flowering encourages a dense, compact shape and prolongs the flowering season.
