Hydrangea macrophylla ‘ Purple Lace Cap ‘
$35.00
Out of stock
Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Purple Lacecap’ is a graceful deciduous shrub admired for its delicate, flat-topped flower heads. Unlike mophead varieties, this lacecap type features a central cluster of tiny fertile florets in rich purple to violet tones, surrounded by a ring of larger, soft lavender or pinkish-purple sterile florets. The contrast between the centre and outer petals gives the blooms a light, airy, and elegant appearance.
Flowering from late spring through summer, it adds long-lasting colour to garden beds and borders. The broad, mid-green leaves create a lush backdrop and turn slightly yellow in autumn before falling. This variety typically grows around 1–1.5 metres tall and wide, forming a rounded, bushy shape.
‘Purple Lacecap’ prefers well-drained, fertile soil and thrives in a partly shaded position, protected from strong afternoon sun. The flower colour can vary depending on soil pH—more purple-blue in acidic soils and more pinkish tones in alkaline soils. Regular watering is important, especially during warm weather, as hydrangeas prefer consistently moist soil.
With its refined lace-like blooms and soft purple shades, Hydrangea ‘Purple Lacecap’ brings charm and a natural elegance to any garden setting.
