Dracaena draco ‘ Dragon Tree ‘

Dracaena draco is a striking evergreen tree known for its architectural form, thick trunk, and sword-like leaves. Native to the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, and parts of Morocco, it is widely cultivated as an ornamental plant for gardens, patios, and indoor landscapes.

The Dragon Tree has a stout, branching trunk with a distinctive umbrella-like canopy of stiff, narrow, lance-shaped leaves that are green to bluish-green. Mature trees may produce clusters of small, fragrant flowers, followed by small orange-red berries. Its sap, known as “dragon’s blood,” has historical uses in dyes, medicine, and varnishes.

This tree thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soil. It is drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal maintenance, though it benefits from occasional pruning to maintain shape.
