Pyrus calleryana ‘Bradford’

Pyrus calleryana ‘Bradford’, commonly known as the Bradford pear, is a deciduous ornamental pear valued for its attractive shape, abundant spring flowers, glossy green foliage, and brilliant autumn colour. It develops a dense, symmetrical, broadly pyramidal crown when young, giving it a formal and highly structured appearance. In early spring, the branches become covered with clusters of small white flowers before the leaves fully emerge, creating a striking floral display.

During summer, the tree carries glossy, dark green leaves that provide a lush appearance and good shade. In autumn, the foliage can turn vivid shades of yellow, orange, red, purple, and burgundy, making the tree particularly ornamental late in the season. Small brown fruits may develop, although they are generally not the main reason this cultivar is planted.
