Botanically classified as Strelitzia nicolai, this species features large, banana-like leaves that grow on tall, upright stems. The glossy green leaves can reach several feet in length and naturally split as they mature, giving the plant a wild, tropical appearance. Outdoors in warm climates, it can grow up to 6–10 meters tall, while indoors it remains more compact but still impressive.

Mature plants produce striking white and blue flowers that resemble a bird’s head in flight, although flowering is more common outdoors in full sun.
