Eucalyptus polyanthemos is an attractive evergreen tree valued for its rounded, silvery-blue juvenile leaves and neat, well-balanced form. The young foliage is smooth, coin-shaped, and held on slender stems, making it especially popular for ornamental planting and foliage use. As the tree matures, the leaves become longer, narrower, and grey-green, creating a soft, natural contrast.

The bark is rough and fibrous on the lower trunk, with smoother, pale grey to cream bark on the upper branches. Small white to cream flowers appear in late winter to spring, attracting bees and other pollinators. The flowers are followed by woody seed capsules typical of eucalyptus.

This species usually grows 8–15 meters tall and develops a rounded to spreading canopy. It prefers full sun, well-drained soil, and performs well in dry, low-fertility conditions. Once established, Eucalyptus polyanthemos is drought-tolerant, moderately cold-hardy, and low maintenance.

Red box is widely used as a feature tree, for avenues, large gardens, and landscape planting, and is also grown for cut foliage due to its decorative leaves. Its tidy growth habit and attractive colour make it a popular choice for modern and Mediterranean-style landscapes.
